QUETTA: Federal Minister for Commerce Eng Khurram Dastagir said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed for giving special priority to Balochistan in Prime Minister’s National Health Insurance Scheme and added that the scheme gradually would cover entire Balochistan. He said this while visiting the offices of State Life Insurance Corporation and Customs, here on Wednesday. “On the desire of Nawaz Sharif, PM’s health insurance scheme was designed in order to provide help to needy and poor people to get treatment of fatal diseases on government expenditures,” he said. The minister said that following the instructions of the prime minister, the national health insurance scheme would gradually cover entire Balochistan. He said that millions of people from all federating units and Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan would get benefits from this scheme. “The registered persons will be given national health card, under which they will avail free of cost treatment at hospitals as the government will bear their expenditures in this regard,” he said. He said that standard land port would start functioning in border town of Chaman from July this year where all required facilities would be provided. He said that the officials of Customs, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Ministry of Commerce had been directed to provide people with all available facilities to immigrants on Pak-Afghan Border Gate in Chaman. He said that the incumbent government had been making practical efforts to further strengthen friendly and trade relations with neighboring countries including Iran and Afghanistan. Collector Custom Balochistan Saeed Jadoon, State Life Insurance Corporation Zonal Chief Muhammad Aurangzeb and Balochistan Sector Head Nasirud Din Mengal were also present.
