Sir: Keeping pending the murder case of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has been a mockery of justice. Here we have a self-confessed killer Mumtaz Qadri, who has been made a celebrity by religious parties. The government has failed to appoint a prosecutor and claims to have lost the case file, which shows its lack of seriousness in upholding the rule of law. Finally, the murder accused is being defended by a former Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court while a large number of lawyers create a circus at every hearing. It seems that religious parties and the government do not want a fair trial of this case, that is why it has been lingering for the last four years. It is requested to the quarters concerned that the hearing of this case should be held on a day-to-day basis for the dissemination of prompt justice. YASIR MIRZA Via Email
