ISLAMABAD: Although, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police are making efforts to curb the street crime in federal capital yet such incidents continue to occur in various sectors time and again. Talking to APP, a police officer informed that a special team had been constituted to curb criminal activities especially street crimes. He said that anti car lifting unit was also patrolling round the clock in the city. He said that Islamabad Police had recently arrested a number of criminals in various cases adding that street crimes had comparatively reduced during last six months. Sana Hamid, a housewife said, “few days back, while I was coming from bazaar, I was deprived of my purse by street criminals.” She urged that to get rid of the menace of street crimes, the quarters concerned should play their due role. In order to bring an end to this evil, efforts should be made to improve police and other law enforcement agencies so that apprehended criminals are tried justly and punished duly. People have urged the authorities responsible for security in the city to further keep a watch on the culprits who were dangerous to the youth and other citizens of the city. Citizen should not hesitate to register complaints against criminals, no matter how petty the offense is.
