ISLAMABAD: MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Co BV launched a campaign for the beautification of a select area in the Fatima Jinnah Park, F-9 Islamabad. The campaign was inaugurated by Dr Berislav Gaso, the executive vice president, Upstream of MOL Group. Dr Gaso launched the beautification campaign by planting a tree sapling of Magnolia in the selected area of the park. The area has been allocated to MOL Pakistan by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). MOL Pakistan has taken up this project as part of its contribution to the city that hosts its branch office in Pakistan. The occasion was attended by Hungarian Ambassador Istvan Szabo, a select group of high officials from CDA and MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company. Dr Gaso said that for MOL Group and its subsidiaries, the protection of environment and safe guarding biodiversity had been a cornerstone of their commitment to the world. “With the launch of this campaign to beautify this area of Fatima Jinnah Park, MOL Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of its activities by contributing to the plantation of trees and creating a clean and healthy environment for all,” he said. He emphasised that MOL Pakistan would also ensure that trees were taken care of properly, especially in their early growth stages. Mr Ali Murtaza Abbas, Group Regional Advisor Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, of MOL Group said that climate change had been high on the world’s environmental agenda, especially obvious after the current impact of weather anomalies.
