ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani has said that India has used the platform of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to further its political agenda against Pakistan. The Senate chairman said this on Sunday along with the Senate delegation comprising of Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa and Senator Najmul Hassan Malik, who had a detailed meeting with the speaker of People’s Majlis of Maldives. He called upon other SAARC countries to reassess the role of SAARC and not to permit any country to monopolise the forum. He emphasised that it would be appropriate for SAARC member states to censor such a move in the future. The Senate chairman brought to the notice of the speaker of People’s Majlis of Maldives about the role of India in sabotaging the SAARC Summit, which was to be held at Islamabad. According to a message received from Maldives, the Senate chairman highlighted the gross violation of human rights and international law by India in Held Kashmir. Rabbani further brought to the notice of the speaker about the use of pellet bullets and the loss of eyesight of innocent children. “Over 90 days have passed and the valley continued to be under curfew, innocent men, women and children have lost their lives. All they are demanding is the implementation of the United Nations (UN) resolutions, granting them the right of self-determination”, Rabbani said. He stressed upon greater parliamentary contacts and exchange between Pakistan and Maldives.
