ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday said using of pellets gun on Kashmiris by the Indian armed forces in Indian-held Kashmir is in violation of human rights. He was speaking to Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Johansson who called on him at Parliament House. The United Nations and international community must play their role to stop the repression, the speaker added. According to National Assembly Secretariat spokesman, the speaker highlighted that Pakistan is committed to fostering an enduring trade partnership with Sweden. He added that Pakistan has enabled a conducive environment for foreign investors. He said energy generation, telecommunication, oil exploration, trade and manufacturing sectors have a huge scope for foreign investment. He hoped that Swedish companies would take advantage of immense business opportunities in Pakistan. Discussing the Kashmir dispute, Ayaz said that using pellets gun on innocent Kashmiris by the Indian occupied forces surmount to breach of all local and international human rights doctrines. The speaker urged the envoy for further cooperation in strengthening parliamentary democracy in Pakistan. He informed the ambassador regarding the new initiatives taken at the National Assembly to deliver to the hopes of the people. He urged the Swedish ambassador to facilitate Pakistani students determined to pursue higher studies in Sweden. Johansson reiterated that Pakistan is an important partner for promoting peace and lasting development in the region. She remarked that Sweden highly appreciates and acknowledges Pakistan’s contribution to global efforts for fighting terrorism. She expressed her confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential and added that Sweden is willing to tap into Pakistan’s economic opportunities. The envoy said the engagement between the two parliaments would fortify the existing amiable relations between the two countries. She also seconded the speaker’s proposal for promoting people-to-people contact. Johansson further added that Sweden would continue to facilitate Pakistan in advancing the gains of democracy.
