ISLAMABAD: The Enforcement Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) demolished 200 sheds constructed illegally in front of different shops and plazas of Aabpara Market. Moreover, 35 illegally constructed shops, within the plazas of the market were also demolished. The gigantic operation was started before dawn on Wednesday and continued till the filing of this report The operation was a continuation of the CDA’s vigorous anti-encroachment drive under which different anti-encroachment operations are being conducted all over the city. The Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Ansar Aziz, said that Aabpara was the oldest market of the city and was known as an icon of city. But due to encroachments, he further added, the market was losing its purpose and a number of complaints were also received from the general public regarding encroachments in the market. He said that in the past anti-encroachment operations were conducted but not a single operation remained successful. Therefore, a well-planned and coordinated operation was required for complete eradication of encroachments from Aabpara Market. He directed the demolishment of all illegal constructions in the market. He said that elected representatives of the respective union councils and traders associations were also being taken on board to achieve the desired results. The operation was personally supervised by the Director Enforcement and participated by 200 officials and officers of the Directorate.
