LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Wednesday urged the political parties to play their due role for the country’s stability. LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice President Almas Hyder and Vice President Nasir Saeed said the political instability in the country was damaging its trade and economic activities. At present, they said, enemies were challenging Pakistan’s integration and sovereignty so the agitating circles should act wisely and remove their differences in the larger interest of the country. The LCCI office-bearers said that trade and economic activities were being submerged and the business community was appealing the protestors to stay away from tactics that create ‘anarchy like situation’. They said that Pakistan was facing a huge economic loss only because of wrong statements and irrational attitude of the political players. “A week of stalled economic activity costs the country around $500 million and Pakistan – being a developing economy – could not afford even $1 million loss to exports,” they said. The LCCI urged the all political parties to join hands for strengthening the economy instead of hatching conspiracies against the government for their vested interests.
