LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday announced to re-contest elections if de-seated from parliament.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and Muttahida Qaumi Movement have moved motions to de-seat the PTI lawmakers, as they remained absent from parliament for more than 40 days. But the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and opposition party Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) are against it.
At a press conference at Royal Palm Country Club, the PTI chairman clarified that his party does not need the government’s favour. He said they are ready to contest by-elections on the same seats and constituencies.
To a question, he confirmed that the government would take its decision on the matter either to de-seat them or not in the next week.
A happy Kaptaan said he was satisfied with the proceedings conducted by the chief justice of Pakistan and the judicial commission’s report. He also advised his followers to stop propaganda against the judicial commission members on social media as the CJP according to him conducted the inquiry fairly.
He said that the JC report should not be considered a win of the ruling party, as its long-term impacts would declare the PTI winner with the passage of time. About the allegations of former Inter-Services Intelligence director general Ahmed Shuja Pasha’s hand behind the anti-govt sit-in, he said Nawaz Sharif should arrest the general if he was involved in any conspiracy.
