Govt makes failed attempt to nullify impact of Imran’s speech

Published on: April 24, 2016 10:13 PM

ISLAMABAD: The government issued an advertisement campaign to the media houses and broadcast an old speech of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the state-run news channel as soon as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan started his address to a public gathering in Islamabad on Sunday evening. However, most TV channels refused to run the advertisement campaign worth billions of rupees during Khan’s speech. On the stage, senior leaders Hamid Khan and Naeemul Haq were sitting left and right to Khan, respectively, and he consulted both of them time to time during the public meeting. During the public meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, an old documentary of the party was screened wherein Jemima Khan, Imran Khan’s former wife, was shown speaking in Urdu. This made Khan laugh out loudly. Hundreds of people got emotional during Khan’s speech and tears started rolling down their eyes. However, the enthusiastic youth was enjoying singing, dancing and sloganeering. Khan did not say even a single word against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in his speech. The senior leaders of PTI Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen reached Fatima Jinnah Park together where the public meeting was under way. They were sitting together during the speeches of other leaders and they continued discussions with each other in a pleasant mood. As many as 11 walkthrough gates installed by police at F9 Park in the federal capital proved useless. Many of them were not working. It seemed to be a joke in the name of foolproof security arrangements. Famous singer Atta Ullah Khan Esa Khelvi could not attend PTI’s public meeting due to his sickness. The new song of the PTI attracted the youth and they danced to it fanatically. mamoona arif, shahid abbas,
