CADD minister interfering too much in FDE matters

Published on: August 24, 2016 10:53 PM

ISLAMABAD: The interference of Federal Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in educational institutions has crossed all limits.

While bypassing Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Director General (DG) Dr Shahnaz Riaz, all orders of transfers, promotions, appointments and even admissions of children to schools are issued from the CADD minister’s office in violation of rules and regulations. Dr Shahnaz Riaz is in hot water these days for her alleged dereliction of duty and mismanagement, besides failing to curb violation of rules and regulations in the department.

Admin Director Major (r) Abdul Waheed, who recently misbehaved with the FDE DG, not only got his transfer orders cancelled from the CADD minister but also got himself reinstated, removing the interim admin director appointed by the FDE director general.

The CADD minister also appointed Model Colleges Director Dr Tariq Masood as coordinator of the Prime Minister’s Educational Reforms Programme without taking DG Shahnaz Riaz onboard, which is a matter of grave concern for the qualified and eligible teachers and officials of the educational institutions.

The political and inappropriate interference by the CADD minister has severely disturbed the educational system and working of the directorate.

Due to such inappropriate interferences by political elites, including the CADD minister, not a single educational institution has shown remarkable progress in the matriculation and intermediate examinations of the Federal Board Of Intermediate And Secondary Education (FBISE). Meanwhile, a meeting was held on Wednesday to review in detail the development on the Prime Minister’s Educational Reforms Programme. Chairing the meeting, the CADD minister was given a briefing on construction work and provision of state-of-the-art facilities in educational institutions of the city.
