ISLAMABAD: India continued to violate the ceasefire agreement, as its forces resorted to unprovoked firing on different sectors from across the Line of Control on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian firing in Iftikharabad, Kotli and Kel sectors.
A heavy exchange of fire – that started in the evening – continued until the filing of this report. Defense sources said that after the Uri sector incident, Indian forces violated the ceasefire agreement almost every day in different sectors.
The Pakistan Army’s local commander contacted his Indian counterpart on the hotline and strongly protested the unprovoked firing. He also demanded investigation into the firing incidents because civilian population and their cattle had been injured due to this firing, sources said.
On other hand, sources said that the Pakistan Army never violated the ceasefire agreement – on the LoC or the Working Boundary – and just responded to Indian firing.
Lawmakers on Wednesday – in the joint session of parliament – also held India responsible for the deteriorating situation on the LoC. They said the Pakistan Army’s restraint policy showed that Pakistan was a responsible country and did not want a war with India, but said in the same breath that aggression would be responded to in a strong way.
