‘Laal Mai’ to highlight a person’s struggle in differentiating between right and wrong: Taqi Ahmed

Published on: October 6, 2019 12:54 AM

Daily Times caught up with the sexy, blue-eyed model and actor Taqi Ahmed to discuss his upcoming project which falls in the horror genre. These days, Ahmed is busy shooting for “Laal Mai”, the story of which is set in the mountains of Balakot, Pakistan. This serial which is being directed by KD (Khalid Malik) will go on air on Aaj TV and its teasers will soon be out.

Taqi Ahmed, who is playing one of the lead characters in ‘Laal Mai’, finds himself in a story that is a mixture of horror, thrill and suspense. He tells, “Its basic focus is on humans trying to find their right path amidst the conflict between God and Satan. It tells how Satan tries his best to deviate humans from the straight path and keeps them baffled. It presents three types of people, those driven by the will of Satan, those driven by the will of God and those who remain dangling in between, at times sinning and at times retreating towards piety.”

Ahmed also told Daily Times that the titular character, that of Laal Mai has been played by Sana Fakhar and will be a highly interesting one, depicting how humans turn into devils. It is now for the audience to see whether that conversion is going to be a literal one or a figurative one. Apart from Ahmed and Sana Fakhar, the serial casts Hira Soomro, Tariq Jamil, Salim Mairaj and Shamyl Khan.

It was also revealed that “Laal Mai” will incorporate an expedition, for a whole family will suffer as a result of the actions of one man, turning the serial into a story of a group of people going through the same misery and trying to find their way out of it.

Religion and black magic will prevail throughout, for in our part of the world, the genre of horror without these two elements is incomplete, considering the belief that scary encounters emanate from either a deviation from the right path or from black magic, both of which are to be treated by religious scriptures and activities. This tells that “Laal Mai” will not have unjustified or illogical horror scenes but scenes with which the Pakistani audience will be able to relate. Moreover, its setting in the mountains will complement its spooky story and create an aura meant for a tale with an objective to frighten the audience.

‘Laal Mai’ has been produced by Emran Khan and headed by Zahid. Usman acts as its assistant director and the shots have been taken by Babar. Taqi Ahmed believes that all of these people have played an equal part in beautifying the serial and making it a worth watchable piece.

The pen behind ‘Laal Mai’ is that of Batool Bhojani who has infused the combination of horror and reality in her script and even before its release, has left the audience’s curiosity piqued. It will be a treat for the Pakistani viewers to have something else on the screen apart from saas-bahu conflicts.
