Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu wound back the clock this week and reunited 16 years on from their last movie together.
The trio fronted two Charlie’s Angels films in the early 2000’s, with supporting cast members including Oscar winner Sam Rockwell, Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, the late Carrie Fisher and The Leftovers star Justin Theroux.
Diaz, Barrymore and Liu were in Los Angeles together on Wednesday (May 1), with the latter celebrating getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Charlie’s Angels reunion!!!” Liu wrote on Instagram after the ceremony. “20 years ago were were forming an elite crime fighting team. Thanks to @DrewBarrymore and @CameronDiaz for always being my angels!”
Barrymore then posted her own photo to the social media site.
“20 years of this tripod!!!!!!! We love each other and support each other,” she wrote in the caption. “Always will. Congratulations to our girl and her star on the walk of fame.”
Diaz also shared a snap of the trio together on Instagram, telling her followers that they were “ANGELS FOREVER”.
“CONGRATS LUCY!! YOU TRULY ARE A ??… LOVED HONORING YOU TODAY…. ??ANGELS FOREVER??,” she wrote.
Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle actress Demi Moore was also in attendance at the ceremony, who shared (via EW): “Lucy and I first met while making Charlie’s Angels – didn’t know we were going to have a reunion today! – and I could see that she was, in fact, as I had heard, a badass with brains.
“The better I got to know [Liu], I realised that she wasn’t just a badass with brains. She was a badass with brains, a beautiful heart, with a deep, loving soul, and a damn good sense of humour. Woooo!”
Liu – who also made waves in Quentin Tarantino’s first Kill Bill film – has her star located next to the first Asian-American actress to receive the honour, Anna May Wong.
Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez explained: “When we place Walk of Fame stars, we love to juxtapose Hollywood’s Golden Age icons with the role models who represent the exciting shifts taking place in the film industry whenever we can.”
