Shahrukh Khan: the king of Bollywood and a symbol of romance

Published on: April 24, 2019 5:39 AM

“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it,” this saying belongs to the king of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan who is one of the most renowned personalities, not only in the history of Bollywood but all over the world.

He is someone in himself, expresses himself, has faith in himself and therefore today he is crowned because of his heart-touching style and nature of loving the people. SRK, who is an example of self-motivation, has encouraged so many who could not step forwards towards their destination. The biography of SRK shows that hard work does pay off. His unique personality defines that if you are determined, then your sight will not find any competitor in front of you except you yourself since you are there to express yourself but not others. He is someone who is extraordinary and nobody can copy his personality nor his style of expressing love towards children and women. He has so many fans in fact, they are his best friends and this is the reason that he’s famous for his films. Thus, he is the king of Bollywood who has been ruling for many years.

Shahrukh Khan has been named SRK, the King of Romance, King Khan, Badshah and so on. When someone calls him by these names, little do people realise how much the actor and producer has worked in order to achieve these titles. SRK is someone who belonged to a very poor family. He often narrates an event from his childhood that once he along with his father went to a cinema but neither of them had any money to purchase tickets. He yelled at his father for not being able to buy a ticket for him. But today, people stand in queues to buy tickets for his films, ready to pay even Rs 1,000.

Very few people know that SRK began his career as a television actor, playing a supporting role. He has worked in more than three drama serials. A filmmaker noticed him one day and offered him a leading role in a film. He says he always dreamt big and considered his dreams deeper than the ocean.

More and more production companies began chasing him for roles. One his of initial films ‘Fauji’ bombed at the box office. However, his film ‘Dil Aashna Hai’ opposite of Divya Bharti performed well but still failed to become a huge hit. After the failure of his two films, he didn’t give up rather aspired to move forward. In ‘Deewana’, he played the role of a crazy lover. Rishi Kapoor, the famous actor of that time, was playing the leading role with SRK and Divya Bharti; shockingly, when the film was released, the audiences forgot about Rishi Kapoor and became SRK’s lovers instead.

The film became a super hit at the box office and SRK got the Best Debut Actor Filmfare Award that year. Khan says during the times when his films were not working, there wasn’t a single soul who motivated him. He picked up the courage to work hard himself. He says that nothing great has ever been achieved without hard work and commitment.

Khan was working on his second film at the time when he said to his fans that he would soon rule Mumbai, but many of contemporaries laughed at him. He underwent a lot of sacrifices, compromises and hard work and ultimately tasted stardom.

Between 1992 and 1999, he bagged four Filmfare Awards for Best Actor. This achievement of his shocked the entire world because winning four Best Actor Awards in seven years was something extraordinary and rare. ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Lejaenge, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Darr’, ‘Anjaam’, ‘Ram Jane’, ‘Yes Boss’ and ‘Duplicate’ have been some of his most memorable and successful films.

His work has helped him earn a massive amount of respect from the world. His lover boy characters have been the most famous. ‘Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Veer Zara’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Rab Ne Banadi Jodi’, ‘Chak De India’, ‘Swades’, ‘My Name is Khan’ and ‘Main Hu Na’ are also some of his films that propelled him towards continued stardom.

These films have won him Best Actor awards. He is the first actor to have eight Filmfare Awards only for Best Actor category. He has a total 279 awards in his lifetime career including both national and international awards. The French government has awarded him with three top honours. His fans on social media are aplenty. The entire Bollywood salutes him.

Whatever he touches, turns to gold be it acting, producing or hosting. Fans love him for his humility. Apart from being an actor, he’s a good man as well who respects the feelings and emotions of others.
