PSFW ’19 Day 2 — Sana Safinaz stuns the audience with a beautiful collection

Published on: April 14, 2019 1:01 AM

RICI MELION — the luxury menswear brand opened Day 2 with their collection titled Voices. A theme that was unique, strong and powerful, focused on mental health issues as depicted by the designs and prints. Navy blue floral jackets, three-piece tuxedos, personalised boots, summer pants and short coats were some of the essentials. Actor and singer Ahmad Ali Butt showstopped for the designer brand.

SAMEER KARASU — the designer brought vibrancy and colour contrasts to the ramp, with abstract designs, geometrical shapes and patterns and lots of feminine cuts that included boat-shaped necks and knee-length dresses.

ZASIMO — the label brought forth plenty of light and breezy summery prints and patterns, with cotton and net being the dominant fabrics. One could sense a 1970s hip and stylish appeal to the collection that also encompassed floral culottes paired with net and organza tops. The colourful accessories went well with the outfits.

HANA — I liked Hana’s collection for its modern cuts, stunning contrasts and beautiful accessories. Crop tops, flowy dresses, shorts and belts dominated the display. The use of accessories was appropriately placed and matched in memorable contrasts.

CHAPTER 2 — Chapter 2 by Khaadi’s collection was inspired by the colours of the sky and was titled Threads of Time. Staying true to its signature style of separates with contrasting shades to go with scarves, pallazo pants and knee-length shirts in a variety of colours that involved green, pinks, orange, blues and blacks, the brand stood out for its very marketable approach towards its outfits.

SANA SAFINAZ — legendary designer label Sana Safinaz displayed a stunning spring/summer collection rich in silks, belted tops, floral sleeves, beautiful detailing and lots of bold shades. A stunning red sleeveless long shirt caught our attention for its statement look. The collection had a Bohemian vibe to it. The use of tassels in accessories and the borders of the shirts caught our eye.

AQUAFINA RISING TALENT — Hafsa Mehmood, Mahnur Azam and Zeeshan Mohyuddin were some of the upcoming designers who showcased under the rising talent segment. Hafsa Mehmood’s capsule collections was rich in shades of yellow, organzas and crop tops. She displayed a beautiful yellow and white butterfly top which would be in our wardrobes soon. Mahnur Azam showcased lovely formal raw silk pants with sleeveless tops. She opted for awhite colour palette for her showcase. Zeeshan Mohyuddin’s collection featured black and bold outfits with a monochromatic colour palette consisting of jeans, capes and bustier tops.

SAIRA SHAKIRA — the designer duo showcased their Secret Garden collection which was an amalgamation of a variety of crafts and ornamentation techniques using sequins and oodles of embroidery. We loved the long evening-wear maxis, the monochromatic colour palette and beautiful embroideries. The embellishments were rare to minimal.

THE HOUSE OF KAMIAR ROKNI — the esteemed designer closed Day 2 with his S/S ’19 collection titled Neofolk, which was about the celebration of ethnicity. The collection incorporated multiple traditional textiles and treatments, using the ancient art of block printing, the hippie chic sensibility of tie and dye and the richly decorative fabric of brocade to present a collection that was Eastern and yet modern. Colourful saris paired with ethnic tops were some of our most favourite looks.
