Government urged to start classes at Timergara Medical College

TIMERGARA: The Naib Nazim of Malikabad Neighbourhood Council here on Wednesday asked the government to start classes at the Timergara Medical College.

Naib Nazim Malik Ali Bakht said the provincial government sanctioned the establishment of a medical college in Timergara to facilitate the people of Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Chitral and Bajaur Agency. He said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak formally inaugurated the college on 15 July 2015, but classes were yet to be stared.

Malik Ali Bakht said the medical college was temporarily established at the building of the Government Girls Commerce College, but classes couldn’t be started. He said the students hailing from Dir were compelled to go to other cities for getting medical education. He said a large number of talented students were unable to receive medical education in other cities due to lack of financial resources. Malik Ali Bakht said the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Timergara couldn’t get the status of a teaching hospital due to the non-functioning of the medical college.

He said the DHQ hospital catered to the needs of patients from Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Chitral and Bajaur Agency and it needed to be upgraded to provide healthcare services to the growing number of patients. “Though the provincial government announced the establishment of the medical college in Timergara, it is least bothered to make it functional,” Malik Ali Bakht lamented.

District Health Officer of Lower Dir Dr Shaukat Ali told this scribe that the faculty members of DHQ hospital Timergara were capable of taking classes at the medical college.

DRCs established to ensure speedy resolution of disputes: The Superintendent of Police Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmad said on Wednesday Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) was established in the province with aim to provide speedy resolution of the disputes in the preview of justice system of the country.

SP security Sahibazada was addressing the participants of project Ulasi Police at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Directorate of Information and Public Affair KP Peshawar.

He shared that Ulasi Police was an awareness and advocacy campaign to strengthen the rule of law in the province and promote the significant of police reforms.

He said that keeping in view the current flow of sensitivity of situation the local community cooperation was the need of the hour.

The SP Peshawar said the Concept of DRC was taken from Hazara Division where dispute resolution process has been excelled with DRC implementation.

DRC was established in order to let the people resolve their disputes without causing distraction and loss of lives. He termed the DRC as modern junk of Pashtun mediation customs.

The Inspector General (IG) KP Police after taking chair at office ordered about the formation of DRC in Peshawar and other districts of KP ought to increase the efficiency and results of Police department in KP, He added.

The SP Peshawar added that Police Department played very crucial role to renovate the Police stations in different districts of KP in order to ease the access for Public participation and minimize the gap between Police and Public.

He added Public Liaison Council where Police had taken men from public to mediate between public and Police of their local Village Councils and district councils.

The numbers of Model police stations have also been increased from 7 to 21 in the KP province where each one having dedicated facilitation desks for women.

The SP said now Police department is well equipped and our city central room can detect and verify any vehicle and document on the spot and working security cameras can read the face and vehicle number plat moving in central Peshawar or on every entry point to Peshawar City.

The Proclaim Offenders can now be traced in every corner if his identity card was dispatched or bank account been used. The official said the list of Proclaim offenders if they were wanted to Police or Army or any other law enforcement agency are in the Police Security system.
