LAHORE: Lahore-based academic Dr Ammar Ali Jan, who was arrested earlier on Saturday morning has been released.
Dr Ammar Ali Jan’s sister Nayab Gohar Jan in her tweet message said “My brother has been released. Thank you to everyone who supported us through this.”

Dr Ammar Ali Jan was arrested from his residence in early morning raid on Saturday and was taken to the Gulberg police station.
Gulberg police raided his home in early morning on Saturday and taken him into custody.
In a facebook post soon after his arrest, Ammar Jan said that an FIR had been lodged against him and that he was under arrest at the Gulberg police station.
“I am under arrest at the Gulberg police station. There is an FIR against me for participating at the protest in Liberty against the killing of Professor Arman Loni” he wrote on his social media account.
“The police raided my house at 4 am to arrest me. I am a law-abiding citizen and will not be deterred in the fight for justice.”
