Uplift of women, youths’ role in FATA stressed

PESHAWAR: The University of Peshawar on Tuesday organized Second National Conference to uplift the economy of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) at Peshawar.

The Conference was facilitated by FATA Cell University of Peshawar (UOP) to evaluate the methods of economic facilitation in FATA through awareness about the role of educated youth and insuring the woman participation.

The two-day conference was attended on the first day by Additional Inspector General Khyber PakhtunKhwa Police Akhter Ali.

He addressed to the people from different walks of life who attended the first session of the conference to elaborate the themes of economic development of FATA in such a tidy atmosphere.

He said People of FATA specially youth and women need to participate in the structure building process to enhance the business and education by mare participation. He appreciated the speakers, encouraged the Teachers and Students to pave positive role in the social and economic development of FATA and KP.

The conference was also addressed by Professor Dr Nur Shah Jahan, Major General Hasan Azhar Hayat , Maria Saif Uddin Afandi of National Defense University Islamabad, Public Speaker Naeem Tahir and Chairman Journalism and Mass Communication Department (JMC UoP) Altaf Ullhah Khan. The Speakers stressed upon the positive need of media and other organizations working to highlight the issues faced by the people of war hit region FATA.

The Participants also talked about the role of Civil Society in uplifting the social and economic condition of the people living in FATA and KP.

They stressed upon the role of educational Institutions to educate the students and youth of Fata in order to better decide future and peace of their region.

The Chairman JMC Altaf Ullah Khan evaluated the role of media and said that there is need of active use of Media projects to educate the people about basic opportunities and markets to make market for the products of FATA.

The University of Peshawar has pride to organize events in order to facilitate the people during crises and they do have potential to deliver on general ground for economic uplifting, he added.

FATA students: A meeting of FATA Students Organization was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Haroon Luqman Afridi here at Shahi Bagh Peshawar on Tuesday.

In the meeting it was decided that Fata Students Organization will hold a rally from Ashngari to Peshawar Press Club for the release of Afia Sidduque and against the Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) in FATA.

Chairman FATA Students Organization Haroon Luqman Afridi said that all students from FATA were participated in the meeting and it was jointly decided that on the coming Thursday they will hold rally for the release of Afia Siddique and against the inclusion of FCR from FATA.

He further said that Fata Students Organization is in favor of merger of Fata in KP , adding that already the culture of FATA and KP were the same and the government should merge FATA in KP as soon as possible and provide all basic rights to the people of Fata.

He informed that they will distribute around 100, 000 Pakistani Flags across all over FATA and the concern Political Agents and officials were take in confidence .

He demanded the KP police and Chief Mininster Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Kamran Bangash who was killed by unknown assailants some days before.

On the occasion central president of FATA Students Organization Idress Khan, general secretary Nadeem Momand, senior wise president Naimat Khan and other members were present.
