NAB initiates inquiry into illegal housing projects in KP

Published on: December 13, 2018 4:05 AM

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated an inquiry against owners of MS Canal View, Nasir Bagh Peshawar and Khushal Garden Nowshera, who allegedly deprived people of their money in the garb of developing housing projects, said a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the accused owners of Khushal Garden, Nowshera had published an advertisement, asking public to invest their money in his housing project. He advertised that he would allot them residential plots after the process. However, neither the investors got the promised plots nor their invested money despite the passage of several months.

The statement said that the NAB was also conducting investigation against owners of M/S Canal View, Nasir Bagh Peshawar, who used the same trick and deprived many people of their hard earned money.

The statement said that NAB viewed the M/S canal View is an illegal housing project, which is working without obtaining any No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Peshawar Development Authority (PDA).

It further stated that the affectees were advised to approach office of the NAB KP DG PDA Complex, Block-III, Phase-V, Hayatabad Peshawar to lodge their complaints and claims along with proofs of payments and other documentary evidences.

In recent days, the NAB has accelerated steps to initiate inquiries into misappropriation of public money, embezzlement and illegal housing societies in KP and throughout the country. This year on July 23, NAB has launched an inquiry on alleged financial misappropriation and administrative irregularities in Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit project worth Rs 70 billion (b).

That inquiry had to be initiated following orders of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) wherein a division bench on July 19 comprising Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Mussarat Hilali and Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth had to direct KP NAB to probe alleged misappropriations in the project in larger public interests.
