The apprehended suspect who robbed Amal Umer’s family and fled from the scene on the day she was shot by a ‘stray bullet’ from an alleged police encounter, are scheduled to receive his sentence from an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on November 3.
An ATC in the metropolis on Thursday heard a case against a suspect namely Khalid, regarding theft and murder of the 10-year old Amal Umer during a police encounter.

According to a police report, Khalid was robbing people along with his companion in Defence on August 13 when a police official opened fire at him. The report says that one of the stray bullets hit Amal in the backseat of her parents car and killed the child.
The police claimed that they apprehended Khalid on September 25. Karachi police chief had announced that the suspect was arrested during an operation carried out by personnel of Artillery Maiden Police Station.
“Weapons, mobile phones and a rickshaw were seized from his possession,” the police chief had added. The Karachi police chief had further said that Khalid, a resident of Hijrat Colony and a rickshaw driver, admitted to involvement in seven theft incidents.
