DPO Pakpattan case: CJP slams CM Buzdar over ‘arrogant’ response

Published on: October 8, 2018 11:46 AM

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Monday slammed Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for lack of seriousness regarding the DPO Pakpattan transfer case.

During case hearing, CJP remarked that instead of being ashamed of his acts, CM Buzdar was showing ‘arrogance’ and taking the issue lightly. “CM Buzdar is taking the issue lightly. His response to a report pertaining the case was unprofessional. Is this the naya Pakistan the government aims to build?” Justice Nisar questioned.

In response to National Counter-Terrorism Authority (Nacta) chief Maher Khaliq Dad Lak’s report over the transfer, Buzdar had issued a formal response saying that the report of ‘imagination of a fertile mind’.

Continuing his jabs at Punjab CM, Justice Nisar said: “No one is ready to admit their mistakes. CM Punjab personally attacked a respectable government officer. Who is CM Buzdar to say such things?”

The top judge also directed government officials in the court room to tell Prime Minister Imran Khan that he was not pleased with PTI’s ‘naya Pakistan’. “I ordered the PTI disciplinary committee to probe Malik Karamat Khokhar alleged meddling in police affairs, but nothing has been done.”

He then directed Ahsan Jameel Gujjar, Advocate General for Punjab (AGP) Ahmed Awais and former inspector general of Punjab Kaleem Imam to submit an “unconditional apology” in the case.
