‘Ridiculous decision’, Ronaldo, Modric fans clash on social media over UEFA award

Published on: August 31, 2018 6:00 PM

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric won the UEFA Player of the Year award on Thursday beating ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Muhammad Salah to the trophy.

What a year! Thanks Real Madrid, Croatia National team and everybody who helped me to achieve this amazing award 🙏❤️ #UEFAawards pic.twitter.com/f3zVV9Mq3s

Things, however, are not as simple as they may seem. Ronaldo fans are not happy with Modric getting the award, and are criticising the midfielder, and UEFA, over it’s ‘poor’ choice.

Even some Real Madrid fans are protesting UEFA’s awarding the prize to Luka Modric.

It still baffles me to how Modric won the UEFA best last night. It seems Ronaldo's brilliance has been taken for granted, scored in 11 consecutive UCL games (record) and has scored 20 goals more than anyone in the competition.

Now I have to pretend that Modric deserved more than Ronaldo to get madridista membership card from some of you guys. Ridiculous!

Others criticised those criticising Luka Modric and it was all chaos.
