Step into the lives of the single and married ones

Published on: July 12, 2018 12:56 AM

You may be single right now but a year or two from now; for all we know you might be a father changing his baby’s diapers and rushing the girls to school. So believe me when I say, time unfolds and so will yours. There’s no need to rush into relationships and commitments out of fear of loneliness and being single forever. No questions asked, being committed has its beauty and perks but so does being single. We tend to trouble our minds forcing ourselves into a relationship while we tend to miss out on the charm and good things the single life has to offer. Being single is beautiful. So, live! Live every second of it while you still can.

For those young uncaught souls who wonder what’s it like being committed and married and for those taken, unavailable ones who reminisce on their ‘young, wild and free’ days, let’s go ahead and engulf the comparison of each halves’ beauty and pitfall.

Have your started getting broke?

When you’re on your own and single, you speak for yourself which means you have all the say in where you’d like to spend your money. If you’re a gamer, weekly computer games purchase would excite you; if you’re a foodie, you get to express your love for heavy cheese pizzas, high-fructose beverages and all those crabs and lastly if you’re a fashionista, well we all know where the money will go. However, not all of us get to live those lives, at least not the married ones. They’ve got to earn enough to save enough for monthly exclusive gifts, expensive surprises and weekly fancy dates. But then again hey! If you’re loaded, you’re all good!

I remember being part of a squad

Back then, you and your squad would practically stay out all night munching on your favorite food and drinking to your favorite song. But now you’d rather stay home cuddling with your dearest one to a movie and ice cream.

Change in movies and theatre seats

When you weren’t committed to a relationship, you’d book tickets for ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Deadpool 2’ and rush to the front seats to get a wider picture. Now that you’re not alone, you’d choose to watch something more pleasant, probably ‘The Vow’ or ‘The Longest Ride’. Also, you’d choose the back seats in the corner for a little extra privacy because you just might want to hold hands during the movies.

How good do I look?

We’re not really bothered to doll up or freshen up for our friends but now that we’re dating someone we’ve made a commitment to, we tend to visit the parlor more often, get our facials done, floss those teeth, purchase expensive colognes and dress to impress that one specific person.

Can I hold you?

No debate here, it gets lonely when you’re single and you’ve got no one to hold and express love. So, it’s always a plus point when you’re committed and you can always rush home to that dearest one to hug and kiss.

Talk to the walls

Is it that safe to confide in a friend? Hm, maybe not too much. When you’re single, you find it hard to express your feelings and share your thoughts with someone you can blindly trust. However, when you’re in a relationship, it’s much feasible to flood out your emotions and share your affection.

Do you take care of yourself?

Single life means carefree days and happy-go-lucky hours when we focus less on ourselves and are least bothered to maintain our hygiene or health. Cigarettes and smokes as we know are as common as apples and oranges which suck the life out of our lungs leaving us to rot by the time we hit out mid 30’s. Do we care? Most likely not. However, our loved ones do. They wouldn’t bear watching you smoke your life away or ruin your health because they do adore and love you and you may be silly enough not to realize it.
