Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) local leaders, Senator Chaudhry Tanveer and Malik Shakeel Awan, were leading a party rally on Liaquat Road when Safdar appeared from his car.

NAB Deputy Director Chaudhry Asghar is leading a team of NAB officials and is present at Teeli Mohallah, where the rally is expected to reach shortly. So that Safdar be arrested and taken to its office in Islamabad from where he would be transferred to Adiala Jail.

Punjab police has also been consulted to assist NAB in nabbing Safdar.

Earlier today, Safdar had announced that he will surrender today, in an audio message. He stated, “I had decided earlier to surrender in Tarnol(Mansehra), but as per party’s decision I will surrender now from another city. Surrendering is an act of honor and I respect my party’s decision”. Maryam’s husband and Nawaz’s son-in-law stated in an audio message released earlier.

He further stated that he is an ordinary worker and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) will sweep the upcoming elections from Hazara division.

On Friday, accountability court sentenced him one-year behind the bars due to his involvement in Avenfield reference case.
