ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Muhammad Azam Khan on Wednesday while talking to the media has said that nobody called me to exclude Zulfi Bukhari’s from the blacklist, not even Imran Khan contacted me in this regard, he added.
However, Bukhari sent an undertaking to the interior secretary in which he had sought a permit of one month to go to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, the minister stated.
Interior secretary recommended for Bukhari’s exclusion from Exit Control List (ECL) for only a month (as requested by Zulfi Bukhari), but I gave permission for 6 days only, Muhammad Azam added.
The Minister further remarked that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested to add Bukhari’s name in ECL, following which the then Interior Minister added the name in ECL on the basis of passport act.
