ISLAMABAD: Disgruntled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) workers on Tuesday continued to besiege Bani Gala over the unfair distribution of party tickets.
The protestors are staging a sit-in protest outside the residence of the party chief Imran Khan.
On the other hand, the party has decided to announce the names of the rest of the candidates for national and provincial seats today.
Earlier on Monday, the PTI chief failed to appease the protestors despite his promise that he will review the distribution of party tickets.
While addressing the protestors, Khan stated that the parliamentary members of the party decided the names on the merit basis.
He also remarked that he would not change his decision under any pressure.
While talking to the protestors earlier in the day the party chairman stated, “If I would change my decision because of you, more people will come here tomorrow.” I am not saying this because of me or my honesty,” he asserted, “I say this because I fear Allah.”
Later he urged the PTI protestors to file a review petition and promised that he would sit with party boards and review the party the decision in the next three days.
He assured that the names will be decided on the merit.
After Khan’s assurances, the party workers ended their protest and dispersed.
Later on Monday, another group of PTI workers comprising 1,500 to 2,000 people staged a protest against the unfair distribution of party tickets.
They crossed the barriers and camped outside the main gate of Khan’s house.
Imran later came out to placate the angry workers and told them that he had been working for the past 12 hours to resolve the issue. Khan also advised them to file a review petition.
Citing how he expelled 20 MPAs from the party for selling votes during the Senate elections, the party chairman advised workers to trust him.
Later, protestors while trying to barge inside Khan’s residence, the police dispersed them which caused disturbance among the protestors.
