Published on: March 7, 2017 3:40 AM

KARACHI: Abdullah Murad was the name of struggle, upheld the rights of poor people of Malir , was a man of integrity and loyalty with his people and the party.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while addressing on the occasion of 18th death anniversary of former MPA Abdullah Murad at Old Thano village of Malir district today.

The chief minister said that he and Abdullah Murad had become members of provincial assembly for first time in 2002. The PPP was in opposition and had to do a lot of work for people of Sindh under the guidance of former chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Nisar Khuhro.

He said that Abdullah Murad was an untiring son of Malir and had pain of his poor people in his heart. He fought against different mafias such as sand and gravel, builder and other mafias just to protect the rights of his people. “Abdullah Murad wanted to improve agro-economy of Malir by protecting its lands and was against the lifting of sand and gravel from the bed of Malir River so that water table in the water wells of Malir could be improved,” he said.

Syed Murad Shah said that he also worked for good education and health services for the people of his district for which he had a lot of different programmes in his mind. “The spirit of his struggle made various people, including the so-called champions of Karachi insecure and they tried to remove him from the arena,” he said and added that the brave son of Sindh Abdullah Murad was killed on this day in 2004. “But he lives in his son, Salman Murad, the chairman of Karachi District Council, “I am sure following his father Salman Murad would serve his people and district without any discrimination,” he said.

The martyrdom is the legacy of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Banezir Bhutto and Abdullah Murad followed them but he would always remain in our hearts as our hero. “His spirit was feeling ground today to see a large gathering of people who have gathered here to pay him rich tribute,” he said.

The gathering was also addressed by former Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh PPP President Nisar Khuhro. They also paid rich tribute to Abdullah Murad and said he was a true political worker. He wanted to serve poor people of Malir, entire Sindh and even poor people of Pakistan.
