Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan will host the ceremony for the peace agreement between the United States and Iran in Geneva. Addressing the National Assembly, he described the development as a major diplomatic achievement and said the US-Iran peace agreement marks a victory for dialogue and diplomacy over conflict.
Speaking in Parliament, the prime minister said that after a period of heightened tensions, the prospects for peace have emerged. He stated that both the United States and Iran had declared a permanent end to military actions on all fronts and had demonstrated patience, wisdom, and restraint during difficult circumstances.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan would have the honor of hosting the peace agreement ceremony in Geneva and congratulated not only the two countries involved but also the international community on the breakthrough. He described the agreement as an important step toward regional and global stability.
The prime minister also thanked political leaders across Pakistan, including former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, for their support. He emphasized that the agreement represents more than a deal between two nations, calling it a triumph of diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful engagement.
Shehbaz Sharif further congratulated US President Donald Trump, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, the Iranian president, and members of both negotiating teams. He also praised the Emir of Qatar, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the President of Türkiye for their constructive roles in the process, saying their efforts helped pave the way for the US-Iran peace agreement and contributed to a successful outcome.
