The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has raised several concerns regarding the Punjab government’s newly announced budget and has called an important meeting of its parliamentary party. Party leaders say that the Punjab budget objections deserve serious attention because several important regions and sectors have not received adequate consideration in the financial plan.
The PPP parliamentary party meeting is scheduled to take place today at the Punjab Assembly, where members will review various aspects of the budget in detail. The meeting is also expected to determine the party’s strategy and official stance on budget-related issues.
PPP leader Ali Gilani stated that the party objects to the government’s failure to make progress on the creation of South Punjab as a separate province. He also expressed concern that the budget does not provide sufficient measures to compensate farmers for their recent losses and economic challenges.
Gilani further argued that the largest share of development funds has been allocated to Lahore, while many other districts across Punjab have been overlooked. According to him, an unequal distribution of resources could increase feelings of deprivation among residents of other parts of the province.
Referring to the Suthra Punjab initiative, he said that the program has shown some positive results in urban areas but that rural communities continue to face poor sanitation conditions. He added that the party’s Punjab budget objections mainly focus on rural development, farmers’ welfare, and the fair distribution of public resources throughout the province.
