PM announces special health package for people of Sindh

Published on: March 10, 2017 5:22 AM

THATTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, while addressing a massive public gathering at Makli Stadium, Thatta, on Thursday announced a special health package for the people of Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan for their free treatment.

Addressing the gathering, the premier said that downtrodden rural areas of Sindh would be reconstructed soon. He said the federal government was committed to bringing new reforms in Sindh, and added that development projects for the betterment of the people and prosperity of the country were top priorities of the government.

He said the federal government would utilise maximum resources to complete infrastructure projects in the province.

He said the grievances of the people of Thatta and Sajawal would be addressed. He announced the establishment of a 500-bed hospital for the people of Thatta.

He also announced to provide gas facility for all villages of Thatta and Sajawal.

The premier said that the Karachi-Hyderabad motorway section had been completed, while Sukkur-Hyderabad section would be completed soon.

He also announced to set up projects of clean drinking water for the people of the area. He said that under the health package, people in Thatta and other parts of Sindh would be issued health cards.

“I’m announcing this in Thatta that we will issue health cards to the people, whether or not the provincial government plays its part,” Nawaz said.

The Prime Minister slammed the provincial government for not resolving the issues being faced by the people of Sindh. “We initiated the health card scheme, which is the need of the hour, but I’m saddened to know that the provincial government refused to play its part,” he lamented.

The premier said that a 500-bed hospital in Thatta would enable locals to use their health cards to avail treatment. “Health cards will also be issued for Tando Muhammad Khan and Sajawal areas.”

Earlier, Nawaz claimed to rebuild Sindh and address the grievances of its people. “We will pump new passion to even the remotest areas of Sindh. The province will be provided with clean water and motorway,” the premier said.

He went on to claim that the villages in Sindh would be made even better than those in Punjab in terms of development. “Funds will be provided for building 50-kilometre roads in the remote areas of Sajawal and Thatta,” he said. He also announced funds amounting to Rs 400 million for the provision of clean water in the two districts.

“I do what I say. I am not one of those who listen to demands and forget. I am here with my entire team, to deliver,” the Prime Minister said.

He, referring to the issue of land erosion by the sea, announced construction of a protection dam for Thatta, Sajawal and Badin, and said it would have a long-term positive impact on the entire region. He said he had already directed a feasibility study for the project.
