Published on: April 22, 2018 4:27 AM

LARKANA: The ABW Academy carried out a large rally on Saturday demanding education emergency to be implemented in Sindh.

The rally was led by Syed Arshad Ali Shah, Sahil Korejo, Roshan Jamali and civil society including women.

They marched through many roads holding placards and banners and reached local press club. They said that despite the fact that education emergency was imposed in Sindh, many schools were closed while Sindh Government took no measures to open the schools. They claimed that education system needs to be updated regarding global developments. They called for immediate reforms so that children may be able to compete in the science and technological world.

They urged the government to take measures so that children can gain education in the schools which is their basic right according to the constitution. They called for action against parents who do not educate their children. They said that the education emergency should be implemented in its true letter and spirit.

They demanded a new syllabus to be prepared and enforced in accordance with the global developments. Meanwhile, the students of Chandka Medical College carried out a rally on Saturday against immoral acts of professor of biochemistry namely Prof Hanif Shaikh. They chanted slogans against him and demanded his removal.

A Batch of 46 students including Imtiaz Jakhrani, Shabir Bahlkani, Munwar Khoso, Ihsan Bijarani and others alleged that highhandedness has constantly been made with the students of CMC in the past but no authority has ever taken any action.

They alleged that Prof Hanif Shaikh used derogatory remarks for a female student and harassed her. A complaint was filed to authorities but no action has been taken yet. They urged the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University Vice Chancellor, CMC and higher authorities to take notice about the matter and oust the professor immediately or protests will be held again.
