LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday rejected bail plea of former DG Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahad Cheema, who is under NAB custody in Ashiana Iqbal Housing scandal.
A two-judge bench comprising of Justice Ali Bakir Najfi and Justice Qasim rejected Ahad Cheema’s bail after recording statements from counsel’s of the petitioner and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
On the other hand, the LHC reserved its verdict over NAB’s request seeking extension of Ahad Cheema’s physical remand.
Cheema had earlier challenged his arrest by National Accountability Bureau in the LHC.
The petitioner contended no legal requirements were completed in his arrest and that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) acted beyond its jurisdiction.
The counsel for the petitioner told the court that Cheema was being politically victimised through his arrest by NAB. He asked that the arrest be declared null and void.
