Teenager murdered after gang rape in Azad Kashmir

Published on: March 31, 2018 12:37 PM

MUZZAFARABAD: The body of a 16-year old girl, who disappeared three weeks ago, was recovered from a stormwater drain early on Saturday in district Poonch of Azad Kashmir.

According to the initial postmortem report, the 16-year-old was gang raped before being murdered.

Upon receiving the body of the girl, family members of the victim staged a protest claiming that no action was taken by the area police despite complaints.

In a similar case in Karachi, on March 11, a 16-year old girl’s case surfaced nearly 6 months after she was gang raped.

The girl’s father, who filed the case said that a man called Pervez forcibly intoxicated his daughter and committed the crime of rape along with others in August 2017.

It was also claimed that a case was not being filed as the suspect had links with police officials. The case was, however, filed on Saturday in Azizabad police station of the Metropolis.
