LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Sunday chaired a party meeting at Jati Umra in which matters regarding the country’s political situation were discussed.
In a meeting at the former prime minister’s residence, matters concerning PML-N’s election campaign, Senate elections and Pakistan’s political scenario were talked about.
The meeting was attended Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and various other party leaders.
PML-N’s session comes a day after the party’s power show in Jaranwala. The former PM had criticised political opponents and the Supreme Court (SC) during his address on Saturday.

Addressing the rally, Nawaz said that he was unfairly disqualified and that he has opted to turn to public’s court for justice. “I was ousted because of this crime. I came to the public’s court to get justice,” said Nawaz.
Referring to his disqualification by the SC in July 2017, Nawaz said that it was the people of Pakistan who chose him as the leader and only the public has right to disqualify the former prime minister.
“It was the people of Pakistan who elected me. Does anyone else possess the right to disqualify me but the people?,” he questioned the rally attendees, while also adding that ‘the nation will reject the decision.’
The former PM also criticised former president Pervaiz Musharraf for ruining Pakistan’s progress by imposing martial law during Nawaz’s premiership in 1999.
“I recall the time when we conducted the nuclear tests in 1999. Pakistan was on the way to become the Asian tiger, its economy was growing, but Musharraf ruined Pakistan’s bright prospects by imposing martial law,” the PML-N leader stated.
