The city administration has decided to make campaign effective against the encroachment land mafia involved encroaching government land roadside encroachments, and illegal parking.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi at his office, on Monday.
The meeting was attended among others by all Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners. Assistant commissioners participated via video link.
Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners briefed the Commissioner about the anti-encroachment campaign jn derail.
It was informed to the commissioner that operations against encroachments are being carried out on a daily basis in all districts.
The Deputy Commissioners submitted detailed reports on the progress of the campaign.
The meeting resolved that the drive against roadside encroachments, illegal occupying government land, and illegal parking would continue and be made more effective. Various strategies to enhance the campaign were reviewed.
It was also considered that legal action should be taken against repeat offenders by registering criminal cases against them. It was decided that shopkeepers who repeatedly violate regulations and continue to encroach would face legal proceedings. Deputy Commissioner Keamari, Sattar Hakro, informed the meeting that long-standing illegal shops at the Maripur Road Truck Stand had been demolished.
Maripur Road truck stand had been causing significant inconvenience to traffic heading towards Hawksbay.
The Deputy Commissioners also told the Commissioner on enforcement actions in their respective districts.
Deputy Commissioner Central, Taha Saleem, informed the meeting that action had been taken against the land mafia occupying government land in District Central.
At Firdous Market, Lalukhet, most shopkeepers had illegally constructed counters, staircases, and platforms in front of their shops, all of which have now been removed.
He further said that the Assistant Commissioner of North Nazimabad demolished illegal structures built in front of shops in Block M.
The Assistant Commissioner of Liaquatabad carried out operations from Lalukhet Super Market and Liaquatabad No. 10 to Ghareebabad and Sindhi Hotel.
