Iran’s military has rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that a peace agreement with Iran would be signed today. Officials from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that reports about an imminent Iran-US agreement are inaccurate and that Iranian negotiators have already stated that no deal will be signed on Sunday.
According to the IRGC, Iranian negotiators have made it clear that discussions are continuing and that no formal signing ceremony has been scheduled. The statement emphasized that speculation about an immediate agreement does not reflect the current status of negotiations.
The IRGC further claimed that President Trump wanted the signing ceremony to take place on June 14, which coincides with his birthday. Iranian officials alleged that Trump views the date as symbolically important and is attempting to use the event to promote his personal and political image.
Earlier, President Trump announced that a peace deal with Iran would be signed today. He stated that once the agreement is finalized, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to all, and remaining nuclear materials would be recovered when conditions become stable.
Trump also expressed hope that the process would be completed quickly and smoothly, adding that the United States looks forward to working with Iran and the broader Middle East in the future. However, Iran’s latest response suggests that the two sides remain divided over the timeline and status of the proposed Iran-US agreement.
