Non-supply of equipment to colleges peeves secretary

Published on: June 6, 2026 3:15 AM

An important review meeting on the progress of procurement schemes for the financial years 2021 to 2025 was held under the chairmanship of Secretary College Education Sindh, Nadeem ur Rehman Memon, attended by Director General Colleges Zahid Rajper, Special Secretary Farrukh Shahzad Qureshi, Additional Secretary Mukhtiyar Mallah, Director Planning & Development Sajjad Abro, Chief Engineer Saleem Shaikh, and all regional directors along with other senior officials.

The Secretary College Education Nadeem ur Rehman Memon expressed strong displeasure over reports of non-supply of equipment in certain colleges and stated that strict action would be taken against contractors who failed to deliver supplies, adding that no one would be allowed to withhold departmental assets and that any collusion by officials would also invite strict disciplinary action.

He directed regional directors to complete scrutiny of all work orders, audit records and procurement processes and submit a comprehensive report within the next week, emphasizing that all matters must be carried out within stipulated timelines, rules and complete transparency, with no negligence at any level.

He further instructed that in any college or region where equipment had not been supplied despite release of funds, responsibility must be fixed and physical verification of all procured items must be ensured to confirm their availability in the respective institutions.

Secretary College Education Nadeem ur Rehman Memon also directed the preparation of a complete record of all departmental properties, land and buildings and submission of a detailed report within one week, stating that encroachments on college land would not be tolerated and that in cases of land grabbing he would take up the matter with commissioners, deputy commissioners and elected representatives. He further ordered the immediate removal of all advertising material, banners and billboards from educational institutions, stating that college environments must remain clean, organized and conducive to academic activities, and reiterated that transparency, accountability and merit would be strictly ensured at all levels.

The meeting also reviewed the job portal for recruitments in the College Education Department, where the Secretary Nadeem ur Rehman Memon directed that regions where scrutiny had been completed should immediately issue schedules and inform the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD) to ensure swift completion of the recruitment process.
