Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has said that a film should be made on the “Pink drug wali” issue instead of a drama. She made the remarks while addressing a cultural event in Lahore. The statement reflects ongoing efforts to promote Pakistan’s film industry.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new film by director Sangeeta, Azma Bukhari said the provincial government is actively working to strengthen the local cinema sector. She said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is supporting initiatives aimed at reviving film production. The goal is to encourage youth to return to cinemas.

Azma Bukhari said that if quality television dramas can be produced, then strong films can also be made. She urged young filmmakers to bring new ideas and creativity into the industry. She added that digital platforms have changed global viewing habits and opened new opportunities.
Furthermore, she stressed that films should not be limited to any specific class or audience. She said meaningful cinema can help project a positive image of Pakistan internationally. The government is also planning to develop a modern film city with advanced facilities.

She added that students graduating from film and media institutions should be given opportunities in the industry. Azma Bukhari said quality content can play an important role in shaping public perception. The remarks come as authorities focus on reviving Pakistan’s cultural and creative sectors.
