At least three people were killed and 24 others injured in various incidents of roof collapses, falling walls, trees, and other rain-related accidents across Punjab during the past 24 hours amid heavy rain and strong winds.
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said on Friday that in Dera Ghazi Khan, three persons sustained injuries in two separate incidents of lightning strikes.
In Faisalabad, a child was killed and nine people injured in seven different incidents caused by collapsing walls, roofs, and falling trees due to stormy winds and rain. The deceased child was identified as 13-year-old Haider Ali, who died in a wall collapse incident at Sultan Chowk.
In Jhang, a person was injured after a signboard collapsed due to strong winds and rain.
In Muzaffargarh, four people sustained injuries in four separate incidents involving falling trees, solar panels, and walls.
In Nankana Sahib, a person was injured when a wall collapsed due to severe weather conditions.
In Lahore, two people were killed and six others injured in six different incidents involving falling trees, sheds, and billboards caused by strong winds and rain.
Near Lorry Adda Badami Bagh in Lahore, a tree fell, resulting in the death of 50-year-old Ejaz and injury to another person, the spokesperson said. In another incident near Rang Mahal, a shed collapsed, killing 21-year-old Bilal.
A separate incident in Lahore also left one person injured after a billboard collapsed.
All the injured were provided immediate first aid and shifted to nearby hospitals.
The spokesperson urged citizens to immediately dial 1122 in case of any emergency.
