Fatima Memorial Hospital (FMH), in collaboration with Saida Waheed FMH College of Nursing (SWCON), commemorated International Nurses Day through a series of engaging academic and awareness activities organized by SWCON and STRSON-NIU. The event brought together healthcare professionals, nursing students, faculty members, and institutional leadership to recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses to patient care and healthcare systems.
The program featured an awareness walk, poster presentations, and a special session of the NUR Shanakht Speaker Series titled “Nursing Ki Asal Shanakht Kon? Rufaidah Al-Aslamia ya Florence Nightingale”. The discussion explored the historical roots, identity, and evolving role of nursing in society. The session was moderated by Mr. Ahmed Rasheed and included panelists Mr. Zunair Farooq, Ms. Rimsha Sadiq, and Dr. Lubna Ghazal, who shared diverse perspectives on nursing leadership, history, and patient-centered care.
The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Shahima T. Rehman, Chairperson NUR-Fatima Memorial System and Patron of Nursing; Prof. Dr. Tayyab Abbas, Principal, School of Health Sciences, NUR-FMS; Dr. Zahid Mohyuddin, Medical Director, FMH; Prof. Dr. Misbah Zafar, Director Academic Nursing, SWCON; and Mr. Mansoor Jamal Butt, Group Head Operations, NUR-FMS, along with senior management, faculty members, and distinguished guests. Speakers highlighted the critical role of nurses as compassionate caregivers, frontline healthcare professionals, and leaders in strengthening quality healthcare delivery.
