Chairman Senate of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gilani and Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb on Friday discussed matters related to financial discipline, institutional reforms, and the government’s austerity measures.
During a meeting, Chairman of the Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani informed the finance minister about the austerity and cost-cutting measures adopted by the Senate Secretariat, stating that the initiative had resulted in substantial savings.
The finance minister appreciated the austerity drive undertaken by the Senate Secretariat and described the savings as a positive example of responsible governance, institutional efficiency, and financial discipline.
Chairman of the Senate Gilani observed that public institutions must adopt practical measures to reduce unnecessary expenditures and ensure the efficient utilization of national resources.
He added that simplicity, transparency, and fiscal responsibility are essential for strengthening democratic institutions and enhancing public confidence.
The chairman of the Senate also appreciated the government’s economic stabilisation measures and expressed hope that continued reforms and prudent policymaking would contribute to sustainable economic growth and improved economic conditions for the people.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of institutional cooperation and coordinated efforts to effectively address economic challenges and promote national development.
