The Indian Premier League final will now be held in Ahmedabad instead of Bengaluru, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The decision marks a major change in the tournament’s playoff schedule. The final is set to take place on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The BCCI stated that the venue change was made due to “certain requirements” from local authorities and the state association. The shift comes despite Bengaluru being cleared to host multiple matches this season. Concerns remain after a tragic stampede last year outside the stadium that killed 11 fans.
