Maryam Nawaz has warned that corruption, negligence, and mismanagement will not be tolerated in the ongoing Suthra Punjab Programme, stressing strict accountability across all administrative levels. She made these remarks during a public ceremony where she reviewed progress on the province-wide cleanliness initiative.
The chief minister said that providing a clean environment is a basic right of citizens and remains a top priority for her government. She added that the Suthra Punjab programme represents a flagship initiative aimed at improving sanitation standards and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents across urban and rural areas.
She further directed officials to ensure effective implementation of the programme, noting that administrative officers act as the “eyes and ears” of the government. According to her, performance in governance is directly reflected through cleanliness outcomes, which require consistent monitoring and immediate corrective action where needed.

At the same time, she emphasized that while workers have the right to raise concerns over unpaid wages, disorder or unrest would not be tolerated in any form. She ordered timely salary payments, identification of ghost employees, and equal development focus across both rural and urban regions.
