A narcotics department official who had been abducted by unidentified armed men was found shot dead on Monday near Dhooda village in district Lakki Marwat, police said.
According to police report, the deceased, identified as Fareedullah, was allegedly abducted by two unknown armed motorcyclists before being taken to an undisclosed location.
Police said the victim was later shot and killed near Dhooda village, where his body was recovered after reports of firing in the area.
Authorities said further inquiry was underway and efforts were being made to arrest those responsible for the brutal incident.
Separately, a former member of the Peace Committee and local leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was shot dead by unidentified armed assailants in the Seigram area of Kabal tehsil in district Swat, police said on Monday.
According to police, the incident took place when unknown gunmen opened fire on the victim in Seigram, resulting in his death on the spot.
Moreover, a police head constable was martyred in a terrorist attack on a checkpost in the Huramzai area of Balochistan’s Pishin district on Monday.
According to police, armed militants on a motorcycle opened fire on a police checkpost using automatic weapons, following which police personnel retaliated.
“The exchange of fire, which continued for some time, resulted in the martyrdom of a head constable,” a police official who wished to remain anonymous told the media, adding that the assailants then fled from the scene.
The official said that security forces rushed to the site of the incident and shifted the body to the district hospital, where the deceased was identified as Naimatullah.
He termed the incident a terrorist attack, saying a search operation had been launched in the area to trace those involved in the attack. No one group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
