Pakistan and Türkiye have concluded the Joint Commando and Special Forces Exercise “Jinnah-XIII” in different Turkish cities focusing on counterterrorism operations, the Pakistani military said on Thursday.
Pakistan and Türkiye share a longstanding defense partnership. Türkiye has been involved in modernizing Pakistan’s submarine fleet including upgrades to Agosta 90B-class submarines to enhance the country’s maritime capabilities.
The training activities were held in Ankara and Isparta, during which combat teams from the Pakistan and Turkish armies demonstrated operational excellence, according to the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“The primary aim of the exercise was to refine drills, procedures, and techniques related to counterterrorism operations,” the ISPR said in a statement.
“Special emphasis was placed on combat in built-up areas and countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs) through joint training.”
Last February, Pakistan and Türkiye concluded their two-week joint military exercise, “Ataturk-XIII,” highlighting the deepening defense cooperation between the two nations.
These exercises are usually focused on counterterrorism operations and come amid a surge in militant violence in Pakistan.
Islamabad has been actively seeking to strengthen international cooperation to address these security challenges.
