PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Munir review US-Iran peace efforts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reviewed peace efforts before US-Iran talks in Islamabad. The meeting matters as Pakistan mediates rising regional tensions through diplomacy. Regional stakeholders, including the United States, Iran, and neighboring countries, are directly affected by these developments.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction over reduced regional tensions due to Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement. They reviewed progress in mediation efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace. Moreover, they emphasized the need for all parties to maintain restraint and uphold the ceasefire. The discussion also highlighted Pakistan’s proactive role in facilitating dialogue between global stakeholders.

Furthermore, the leaders reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting a peaceful negotiated settlement. They assured full cooperation to ensure the success of ongoing diplomatic initiatives. In addition, the prime minister praised the patience shown by involved parties. He also expressed optimism that talks would lead to meaningful outcomes.

Meanwhile, preparations for the negotiations have intensified in Islamabad ahead of the April 10 talks. Iran confirmed that its delegation will be led by senior leadership figures. Similarly, the United States delegation will include high-profile officials. Authorities have also announced enhanced security measures across the capital.

Additionally, the government expanded the Red Zone boundaries to ensure tight security during the talks. Key government buildings and diplomatic areas fall within this zone. Officials confirmed that military, Rangers, and police will jointly manage security. A two-day public holiday has also been declared to facilitate smooth arrangements.
