All depts put on alert in wake of expected rains: Sharjeel Memon

Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon have said that, in view of the expected rains in various districts in the coming days, the provincial government has alerted all relevant institutions. Rain and hailstorms have been predicted in Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Qambar Shahdadkot. According to the Meteorological Department, the rains may intensify on April 6.

In a statement, he added that, in view of the possible weather conditions, effective drainage arrangements are being ensured in urban areas, while preventive measures are being taken to protect sensitive structures and standing crops.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that instructions have been issued to the relevant institutions to keep the drainage system more effective and functional and to deal with any emergency situation in a timely manner. The Sindh government has fully mobilized the district administration, local bodies, rescue services, and other relevant departments to provide all possible facilities to the public.

He said that people living in low-lying areas should take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that farmers are being provided with government guidance and assistance in view of the weather situation so that they can take timely steps to protect their crops, and that the Sindh government stands with the farmers while an effective action plan is being formulated to address any possible damage.

Met office forecasts rain for Sindh, including Karachi

Pakistan Meteorological Department on Sunday predicted partly cloudy weather in most districts of the Sindh province during the next 24 hours.

However, rain windstorm or thunderstorm (isolated heavyfall and hailstorm) is likely at scattered places in Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana and Qambar Shahdadkot.

Isolated rain may also occur in Dadu, Nowshera Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Mityari, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal and Karachi during the period. Mainly, partly cloudy weather is likely to prevail in most districts of the province.
