Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday announced a major relief package for farmers, particularly those cultivating wheat across the province, under which financial assistance will be provided to farmers owning up to 25 acres of land through a diesel subsidy.
Under the initiative, a subsidy of Rs 150 per litre will be provided on up to 10 litres of diesel per acre to eligible farmers, aimed at reducing the cost of cultivation and supporting agricultural productivity.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, the chief minister said that rising global oil prices amid ongoing international crises have led to increased petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan, adding that she remained committed to standing by farmers during challenging economic conditions.
She said that she was personally overseeing the subsidy mechanism to ensure transparent, efficient and timely delivery of financial assistance to all eligible farmers across the province.
Highlighting the importance of the agriculture sector, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that farmers are the backbone of Punjab’s economy and reaffirmed her resolve to continue safeguarding their rights and providing all possible support to ease their financial burden.
Separately, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday announced a major relief package for motorbike owners aimed at reducing the financial burden on the public, under which motorbike registration fees has been abolished and transfer fees waived, along with the introduction of a monthly subsidy of Rs 2,000 for registered motorbike owners.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, the chief minister said that under the initiative registered motorbikes will also be eligible for a fuel subsidy of Rs 100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month, adding that the package has been launched with immediate effect with a transparent mechanism for facilitation of citizens.
The CM said that motorbike owners can apply for the subsidy through helpline 1000, the Maryam Ko Batayn mobile application available on the Play Store, or via the official web portal, while reiterating that the government is committed to providing relief to the common man and ensuring that meaningful support reaches every household.
