Nine Workers Killed in Mardan Marble Mine Collapse

Mardan Mine Collapse

A tragic incident in Mardan claimed the lives of nine workers after a marble mine collapsed in Rustam tehsil on Tuesday evening, according to rescue officials. The حادثہ occurred in the Nangabad area, where multiple labourers were working inside the mine at the time of the collapse.

Rescue 1122 teams responded quickly to the scene and began operations to retrieve those trapped under the debris. Initial reports confirmed that six bodies and three injured workers were pulled out during the early phase of the rescue effort. Authorities stated that a total of 12 labourers had been inside the mine when it caved in.

The deceased workers were identified as Khalid, Azmat Khan, Khair Zameen Shah, Tariq, Khan Zaman, Wasif, Asfandiyar, Malang, and Abdul Wahab. Most of the victims belonged to Swabi, Buner, and Mohmand districts. Two injured individuals, Ziyad and Takht Mohammad, were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Rescue officials confirmed that one labourer, identified as Khyber from Mohmand, remains missing, and search efforts are ongoing to locate him. The operation is being carried out under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Syed Shoib Mansoor.

More than 50 rescue personnel, along with multiple ambulances, excavators, and recovery vehicles, are participating in the operation. Authorities have pledged to continue efforts until all victims are accounted for, while an investigation into the cause of the collapse is also expected.
